How to spend a day on transit

Back from my holidays at Nafplio I had to spend a day at home before leaving for Tinos island for another week. So aside from catching up with my favorite blogs and Newsgroups I’ve decided to update my personal computer (I had already done that for my work PC) a bit as it seemed to be a bit outdated in Microsoft time terms 😉 So I’ve installed the latest Silverlight RC release as well as Visual Studio 2008 beta 2 one.

Installations though tend to take some time to complete thus leaving you with nothing to do on the meantime. So what’s better than to start some more installations eh? I’ve decided to remove a Home Server Installation I tried for some time on an old PC I use as a server/demo machine to give Windows Server 2008 a try. After all there’s nothing Windows Home Server can do that Windows Server 2008 can’t.

Overall the process went fine… Don’t try to install Microsoft Image files though, using Daemon tools. Instead write the image file to a DVD and then run the installation file as if you don’t, you run the risk of a failed installation (as I found out the hard way).

Now I’m thinking of setting up a small workspace on my W2008 server by setting up Team Foundation Server to it as well…. 😉 I’ll let you know if this works out.

P.S. I intentionally haven’t mentioned anything on how I’ve spent my vacation time. I plan to do so when all of my vacation time is over as the title says I’m still on transit…
